PBLA Culinary Pathway

Give Them a Recipe
For a Better Future.

Help Porter-Billups Leadership Academy give middle and high school students hands-on culinary experiences that build confidence, practical skills and a window into future careers.

Learning That Goes Beyond the Classroom

There’s a Lot More Being Made Here Than a Meal.

In a kitchen, students learn by doing. They measure. They plan. They collaborate. They solve problems when things don’t go exactly as expected.

PBLA’s Culinary Pathway gives middle and high school students opportunities to develop those real-world skills while exploring careers in food, hospitality and entrepreneurship.

Just as importantly, students get the chance to discover something they may not have known about themselves: I can do this.

Skills for the Kitchen. Skills for Life.

What Students Take With Them

Culinary education creates a natural classroom for the same qualities PBLA works to develop in young leaders.

Confidence

Learning a new technique, completing a dish and seeing the finished result gives students tangible evidence of what they’re capable of.

Teamwork

Kitchens depend on communication, organization and people doing their part — skills that transfer to school, work and leadership.

Career Exploration

Hands-on experiences introduce students to possibilities in culinary arts, hospitality, food service, business and entrepreneurship.
